Each Monday throughout the preseason, Liberty women's basketball fans have gotten an inside look at the team, both on and off the court, through the eyes of senior point guard Allyson Fasnacht. Today, the series concludes with the fourth installment of Allyson's Angle.

Hey Lady Flames Fans!

I just wanted to catch you up on the happenings in and around Liberty Women's Basketball. This past week was pretty busy for us, but exciting at the same time.

We took what we learned from the Virginia scrimmage and worked on applying and carrying it over throughout practice this past week. We broke down some film and prepared for our exhibition game this past Thursday.

In case you missed the game, we beat Athletes in Action (AIA), 80-74. The game was pretty unique because we were able to share a pregame meal with our opponents. The AIA girls were awesome, and it's always neat to play against girls who are playing for the same reasons you are—to glorify and thank God for the talents and abilities we are all truly blessed with.

We ate at La Villa (the BEST local Italian place in Lynchburg – I LOVE it!) and a couple of the AIA players shared their stories with us. We all split up and sat with different people and were able to fellowship, knowing the game was in fact, only a game. Hopefully, we were able to encourage them, as they encouraged us. The AIA girls were definitely tired. They played had eight games in nine days, up and down the East Coast. They were able to share a meal with the teams and one or two of them were able to share a part of their testimony at each game. It's an awesome ministry, and I really enjoy when we get to play them!

It's hard to believe the preseason is officially OVER! August seems so long ago, but it still feels like we just started. I know that may not make sense, but that's really the best way to explain it. The preseason is important for our team and our program as a whole. It's during the preseason we as players are really able to work and get better – TOGETHER.

The fact we go through it together, while encouraging and pushing each other along the way, makes it worthwhile. We spend a lot of time together and really start to get to know each other more than just on the basketball court. It's during tough times we become sisters. We go through the good and the bad, but it's encouraging to know that there are 12 other girls who have your back.

Our first official game is Tuesday at UNC Greensboro. We are excited to get the season started. It is time to see all our hard work come together. The coaches have prepared us and given us all the necessary resources for us to be successful. Now it's time for the 13 of us to go out and play.

The first part of our season is going to be a challenge, with our home opener not being until Nov. 30. We have our first six games on the road, including a Thanksgiving tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio. We are excited to get back on the right track to recapturing the Big South Tournament title and beyond. Our battle cry for this season has been "Earn It." The season is here and we're ready to do just that.

It all starts on Tuesday! Be sure to listen to us on the radio, and we'll see you all on Nov. 30 for our home opener!

Playing for His glory,
Allyson #10
