Kittery Maine should help the Lady Flames continue their tradition of strong rebounding this season.

Unlike a season ago, when the entire Liberty women's basketball team remained unchanged from the previous campaign, four new faces dot the 2007-08 Lady Flames' roster. Throughout the preseason, LibertyFlames.com will introduce each of the new additions to the squad, wrapping up today with freshman forward Kittery Maine.

Scouting Report: The Lady Flames have finished among the nation's top five teams in rebounding margin in each of the past four seasons. Maine will be asked to assist in this facet of the game as a freshman, after leading her high school team in boards as a senior. The Georgia native will also stretch out opposing defenses with her outside shooting touch, a common trait among most of the Lady Flames' post players.

Credentials: Maine excelled on the basketball hardwood and the softball diamond at Warner Robins High School, playing for successful squads in both sports. As a senior, Maine was part of a girls' hoops team which qualified for Georgia's Sweet 16. She averaged 11.5 ppg and paced the Demons in rebounds (7.5 rpg), blocks (2.3 bpg) and field goal percentage (49 percent). Maine was also voted Warner Robins' most valuable defensive player. In the spring, her softball team placed fifth in the state, and Maine received the softball leadership award.

Coach Green on Maine: "Kittery brings ingrained family and Christian values to our program. She is very dedicated and committed to her family, her team and her own personal spiritual growth. We are very thankful she chose to be part of our Liberty family. She brings much-needed size and skills to the post position. We are excited to see her continued development and contributions throughout the season and into the future. Her greatest attributes at this time are size, rebounding ability and a soft shooting touch."

Kickin' it with Kittery:
If I were on "American Idol," I would sing … "Our Song" by Taylor Swift.

It is not good for you, but I still eat … sweets.

I spend too much time … procrastinating.

When I want to get away from basketball for a little while, I … sleep or hang out with friends.

Other than Liberty, the team I root for the most is … my high school team [Warner Robins HS].

The best movie I saw over the summer was … Transformers.

The actress who would play me in a movie is … Sandra Bullock.

If my room were on fire, I would be sure to grab … pictures, phone, camera and my laptop.

My favorite quote is … "If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place." - Nora Roberts

What advice would you give to young children? Stay in school, listen to your parents and get to know Jesus.

After graduation, I would like to … start a successful career and a family.
