The Liberty Lady Flames will be the 2007 Big South Women's Soccer Championship's No. 5 seed when the tournament opens Thursday in Charleston, S.C., the conference announced, after the conclusion of league play Saturday evening.

The Lady Flames finished their conference season with a 3-4 record, tying Radford for fifth place in the Big South regular-season standings. Head coach James Price's squad secured the No. 5 seed by virtue of its 4-1 win over the Lady Highlanders on Oct. 23.

Liberty, 6-11 overall on the year, will face No. 4 seed Winthrop in the opening game of the 2007 Big South Championship, Thursday at 11:30 a.m. The Lady Eagles completed Big South play with a 4-3 mark, including a 3-2 victory over the Lady Flames on Oct. 13. Winthrop will enter the contest with a 6-7-4 overall mark.

Coastal Carolina claimed the top seed with a 6-1 league mark. The Chanticleers will enter the tournament with a school-tying record 13 wins, as Coastal Carolina has fashioned a 13-5-1 overall mark this season.

Championship host Charleston Southern and High Point tied for second place at 5-2, after both teams posted wins Saturday night, with the Lady Buccaneers receiving the No. 2 seed due to their win over the Lady Panthers during the season.

After Winthrop, Liberty and Radford, defending conference champion, UNC Asheville captured the No. 7 seed, while VMI received the No. 8 seed, both with records of 1-6. UNC Asheville earned the higher seed due to its 5-0 win over VMI last week.

The 2007 Big South Women's Soccer Championship begins Thursday with four games and concludes with the championship game on Nov. 11. The Big South's tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship. All games will have real-time in-game statistics available on BigSouthSports.com and csusports.athleticsite.com. LibertyFlames.com will also provide links to live stats of all Liberty contests. Game 2: No. 1 Coastal Carolina vs. No. 8 VMI, 2 p.m.
Game 3: No. 3 High Point vs. No. 6 Radford, 4:30 p.m.
Game 4: No. 2 Charleston Southern vs. No. 7 UNC Asheville, 7 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 9
Game 5: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner (Semifinals), 4:30 p.m.
Game 6: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner (Semifinals), 7 p.m.
