Coach's Comments: An Audio Interview with Alexis Sherard
Alexis Sherard is one of two new assistant coaches on the Liberty women's basketball staff this season, after spending the past two seasons working with the Flames' men's basketball program. LibertyFlames.com recently sat down with Sherard, to inquire about how the Lady Flames are looking through the first two weeks of practice, among other things.
Sherard served as recruiting coordinator for the Liberty men's basketball team and also aided in perimeter development, during his two years with the program. He has taken on some of the same responsibilities with the Lady Flames, including the role of recruiting coordinator and assisting in player development.
Prior to coming to Liberty, Sherard worked on Pete Gillen's men's basketball staff at Virginia for six seasons (1999-2005). Sherard was the Cavaliers' director of basketball operations for four years and an assistant coach for two.
Sherard's coaching career started at his alma mater, St. Michael's, in Colchester, Vt. He was an assistant for two seasons (1993-95), after the completion of his playing career for the Purple Knights.
During this interview, Sherard discusses the adjustment he has made from coaching men's basketball to women's basketball. He also talks about some of the Lady Flames' team strengths, as well as the squad's preparation for the Nov. 13 season opener at UNC Greensboro.
