Yannick Reyering scored three times Tuesday, lifting the 10th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers to a 3-0 victory over the Liberty Flames in men's soccer action at Klochner Stadium.

The win improves the Cavaliers' record to 9-3-2 on the season, while the Flames fall to 8-4-2.

Despite outshooting Virginia, 9-5, in the first half of play, Liberty went into intermission down 2-0.

The Cavaliers got on the scoreboard early, converting their first shot attempt of the contest. In the eighth minute of play, Reyering received a ball in the midfield, dribbled past several defenders into the box and fired a shot past the keeper for a 1-0 advantage.

Reyering scored again in the 29th minute, as he one-timed a cross from midfielder Chris Tierney.

The Flames countered with several shots in the last 15 minutes of the half. Two shots by Joshua Boateng (Jr., MF, Accra, Ghana) during the stretch and a shot from Brandon Patterson (Sr., MF, Lakeland, Fla.) forced saves by Virginia keeper Michael Giallombardo.

In the second half, Reyering netted his final goal of the game in the 70th minute. The ACC's leading scorer received a cross from T.J. Cyrus at the far post, controlled the ball and lofted a shot just under the crossbar.

Liberty outshot Virginia, 10-9, in the game and had a 4-3 corner kick advantage. Giallombardo made six saves for Virginia, while Paul Gilbert (Fr., Rockvale, Tenn.) made three saves for Liberty.

Boateng led the Flames with four shots in the game, while Patterson added three for the visitors.

Liberty will square off with future Big South member Presbyterian, Friday night at Liberty Soccer Field. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
