Liberty Finishes 5th at CSU Invitational
The Liberty men's golf team finished tied for fifth place out of 12 squads at the CSU Invitational, played at the 6,978-yard, par-72 Crowfield Country Club, in Goose Creek, S.C., on Tuesday.
Liberty (299-301-306—906) finished in fifth place, 20 strokes behind tournament champion Radford (293-295-298—886). During the tournament, the Flames were led by Nathan Schenz-Davis (76-74-72—222). The redshirt sophomore tied for sixth at 6 over. Jay Calvo (73-75-77—225) maintained his 15th-place spot, while Andrew Nelson (74-78-79—231) finished at 15 over. Rounding out the Flame five were Stephen Dooley (76-75-80—231), also at 15 over, and Chris Watters (82-77-78—237), at 21 over.
Following Radford at the top of the pack were Longwood (301-290-310—901), 15 strokes back, and Belmont Abbey (299-291-313—903), which finished 17 strokes back.
Playing as an individual, Patrick Rada (68-70-74—212) of South Carolina won medalist honors at 4 under. Kyle Bailey (71-70-74—215) of Radford finished three strokes back, at 1 under. There was a two-way tie for third place, as Baker Elmore (74-69-75—218), another individual from South Carolina, finished at 2 over, tied with Thomas Parker (73-70-75—218) of Stetson.
The Flames conclude their fall season at the Old Dominion Seascape Collegiate, Oct. 29-30, at the Seascape Golf Course, located in Kitty Hawk, N.C.
