Liberty sophomore Ally Erving

Liberty sophomore Ally Erving

Throughout the women's soccer season, fans will have an opportunity to get to know the Lady Flames a bit better through a question-and-answer session. Today, the series continues with sophomore forward/midfielder Ally Erving.

Forward Ally Erving has played in eight games, with four starts this season. The first player from the state of Alaska to play for the Lady Flames, Erving scored her first collegiate goal this season in Liberty's 3-0 win at Presbyterian. Last season, the forward/midfielder played in six games with one start. Redshirted due to injury in 2005, Erving has been a member of dean list each of her first four semesters at Liberty and has been named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll after both academic years.

My earliest soccer memory is … dribbling through cones at my first practice and thinking to myself, "they call this a sport?" :)

Other than soccer, my favorite sport to play is … It's a toss-up between snowboarding or hockey.

When I have an hour of free time, I like to … hit the GYM!!!

If I won a million dollars, I would … tithe 10%, then I would buy myself a condo on the beach in San Diego, Calif. and then, I would go to Disney World.

If someone would look at the songs on my iPod, I would be embarrassed for them to see I have this song …"If You Wanna Be My Lover" by the Spice Girls. The best part is that I know EVERY SINGLE WORD to the song and sing it quite frequently, too! (performances on request!)

It is not good for you, but I still eat … the occasional fresh baked chocolate chip cookie - you can't say 'no' to that!

A place I would like to visit one day is … Australia - I would love to learn how to surf!

If you could eat dinner with three other people (living or dead), who would they be and why?

1) My grandpa- He is in the Rodeo Hall of Fame, was a fighter pilot in WWII, and has traveled the globe. Imagine the stories he has to tell!
2) Eve (from Genesis, not the rapper) - I want to hear all about what the Garden of Eden really looked like.
3) Wayne Gretzky- He is the greatest hockey player of all time, which makes him my favorite athlete of all time.

Who is your favorite Bible character and why?
Queen Esther- She is the perfect picture of feminine strength, beauty, and bravery. Her story is the perfect example of the fact that although sometimes problems might seem insurmountable, if our trust remains in the Lord and in his strength, he will carry us through the storm and everything will work itself out to bring him glory and us victory in Christ.

When surfing the Internet, what website do you visit the most frequently? I'm a little embarrassed to say, but bodybuilding.com

What is something about you that other people don't know?
When I was little, all I wanted to be when I grew up was a zamboni driver. Also, I am terrified of open water.

What is the best part about being on the Liberty Women's Soccer team? The fact we are a family! We all love each other so much and would do anything for one another. Not only are we all such amazing friends, but we have a deeper bond in the fact we are also sisters in Christ.

Who is your favorite Superhero and why?
I always loved Spiderman. The fact he can climb buildings is amazing, and so I used to carry around a Spiderman action figure with me EVERYWHERE. I was always trying to climb things like Spidey did (leading to a broken arm after falling out of a tree!

What cartoon character are you most like and why?
When I was growing up, all of the kids in school used to call me Nala because apparently, I look like Nala from the Lion King. I thought that I had escaped that label when I came to college, but a few of the girls on the team thought the same thing, so I still get teased a bit here in college, too.

After graduation, I would like to … work with professional or Division-I athletes doing strength and conditioning, specifically focusing on performance enhancement.
