The Flames weren't able to climb any higher on the final day of competition as Liberty entered the final 18 holes of the 49er Classic in a share of 12th place and finished in the same location as the Flames carded a 314 earlier today to place 12th out of 16 teams at the two-day, 54-hole event.

Host Charlotte won the overall event by a commanding 20 strokes as the 49ers fired the best round of the day and the third best of the overall event with a seven-over-par 295 on the day to claim the team championship with a 20-over-par 884 (290-299-295).

Charlottes' closest competitor was Davidson, who finished in second place with a 40-over-par 904 (302-304-298), while Ball State finished in third place with a 42-over-par 906 (311-293-302) and Long Beach State placed fourth with a 43-over-par 907 (308-293-306).

Charlottes' Ray Sheedy was the only golfer to post a score in red numbers en route to individual medalist honors as the junior finished the event with a four-under-par 212 (68-73-71) and posted the only sub-par round on the final day at the par-72, 7,116 yards Cabarrus Golf Course with a one-under-par 71.

Jacksonville's Daniel Willett (69-70-72) and Charlotte's David Rawluk (74-75-72) tied for second place as both golfers finished with a five-over-par 221, while follow 49er Stefan Wiedergruen placed fourth with a seven-over-par 223 (71-74-78).

The Flames (309-315-314) finished the event in a two-way tie for 12th place along with Belmont Abbey (316-315-307) as the two squads carded scores of 74-over-par 938.

Flames' rookie Nathan Schenz-Davis posted his second-straight Top 25 finish as the freshman finished in a tie for 23rd out of 83 golfers with a 13-over-par 229 (77-74-78).

Also finishing for Liberty was Peter Hong, who was tied for 44th with an 18-over-par 234 (75-82-77), Parker McKoy (80-79-80) and Jay Calvo (80-80-79), who tied for 61st place with a 23-over-par 239 and Andrew Turner, who finished 68th with a 24-over-par 240 (77-82-81).

The Flames will conclude their fall golf schedule next weekend when they travel to Kitty Hawk, N.C., to participate in the ODU/Seascape Tournament, with the two-day, 54-hole event scheduled to be played at the Seascape Golf Course.
