Host Liberty Sits in Ninth at Frank Landrey Invitational
Hosting the Frank Landrey Invitational, the Liberty men's golf team sits in ninth place out of 11 squads after two rounds, at the 7,059-yard, par-72 Poplar Grove Golf Club, in Amherst, Va., on Monday.
Radford (290-287—577) holds a narrow, one-stroke lead over Richmond (285-293—578). USC Upstate (306-279—585) closed out at 9 over par, eight shots off the lead, after shooting a 279 in round two, the lowest team score of the day.
Nick Little (70-69—139) of Radford and Baxter Culler (70-69—139) of USC Upstate shot identical numbers, tying for the individual lead. Vincent Nadeau (69-71—140) of VCU is one stroke behind the leaders, while Ryan Stocke (72-70—142) of Youngstown State is three strokes back, at 2 under par.
Liberty (308-300—608) sits in ninth place, 11 strokes behind fifth-place James Madison (301-296—597). The Flames were led by Jay Calvo (74-72—146), as the junior is tied for 13th at 2 over. Peter Horstman (74-78—152) is at eight over while Sang Chun (81-75—156) is at 12 over. Nathan Schenz-Davis (79-78—157) and Parker McKoy (82-75—157) round out the Flame five at 13 over.
Liberty also had seven individuals participating in the tournament. Andrew Nelson (76-73—149) finished 5 over, while Preston Dembowiak (78-72—150) finished 6 over. Chris Watters (75-76—151) and Stephen Dooley (76-75—151) both finished 7 over. Stephen Hawk (74-80—154) finished 10 over, while Jacob Singleton (80-79—159) and Manuel Moreno (81-81—162) finished 15 over and 18 over, respectively.
The Frank Landrey Invitational concludes with a final round, tomorrow at the 7,059-yard, par-72 Poplar Grove Golf Club.
