Liberty Women's Basketball Ready for First Official Practice of 2007-08 Season
The Lady Flames, recently picked to finish second in the Big South Conference this season, will practice from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening. The session is open to the public. Liberty returns nine letterwinners from the 2006-07 squad, which finished 19-12, recording the Lady Flames' 11th-consecutive winning season.
"Our battle cry throughout the offseason and preseason has been ‘Earn it,'" noted Green. "We have been picked to finish second in the Big South and know we will have to work hard to earn first place. Our players and coaching staff are committed to doing just that."
The Lady Flames' first five official practices are slated for the Schilling Center, due in part to home volleyball matches and Saturday's Switchfoot concert. Liberty will make its practice debut on the Vines Center floor next Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. Fans' best opportunity to catch the 2007-08 Lady Flames in action during the next several weeks will come in the team's home exhibition contest against Athletes in Action, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
"Tonight marks the first step in our season-long journey," added Green. "Our ultimate goal is the same as it is every year, to honor and glorify God in all we do. Faces change as players and coaches come and go, but our goal remains the same."
Liberty will have exactly one month of practice before it takes the court for the 2007-08 season opener, Nov. 13 at UNC Greensboro. Watch LibertyFlames.com for regular updates and interviews, leading you right up to tip-off at Fleming Gymnasium.
