Liberty sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Kamphuis

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday throughout the women's soccer season, fans will have an opportunity to get to know the Lady Flames a bit better through a question-and-answer session. Today, the series continues with sophomore Lauren Kamphuis.

Lauren Kamphuis is in her second year on the Liberty women's soccer team. A native of Bloomington, Ill., the goalkeeper has seen action in three games this season. She was named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll last year.

My earliest soccer memory is playing indoors in PE class in elementary and my teacher getting upset because I kept throwing the ball through the basketball hoops.  I had time-out.

Other than soccer, my favorite sport to play is … basketball without a doubt.

When I have an hour of free time, I like to call a friend or family member to catch up.

If I won a million dollars, I wouldtell everyone and make more friends!  Just kidding.  I would invest it for a healthy economic future.

If someone would look at the songs on my iPod, I would be embarrassed for them to see I have this song  Gene Kelly's Singing in the Rain is pretty embarrassing. What's more embarrassing is how often I listen to it.

It is not good for you, but I still eat … my roommate/teammate's cooking.

A place I would like to visit one day is… west-side America or Holland.

If you could eat dinner with three other people (living or dead), who would they be and why?
I think most would say Jesus or Paul, but its dinner and I would probably be freaking out about my table manners, so I would not choose them.
Peter, the disciple, because everyone loves him even though he is known for denying Jesus three times.  He must have been pretty amazing for everyone to forgive.
Oprah is a beautiful humanitarian and even though we have some strong disagreements, I would be willing to put that aside for a dinner.
Also, Abraham Lincoln, not only because of his honesty, but because he failed more than he succeeded. Yet, he was known for his success and we don't see that today enough.

Who is your favorite Bible character and why?
Jonah, he lived in a big fish for three days, and then was spit onto shore.  How many people can say that they tried to run from God, so hard and long that God made them live in a big fish?

When surfing the Internet, what website do you visit the most frequently?
http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com visit it today!  Chicago Cubs Homepage!!

What is something about you that other people don't know?
I kind of picked up the sport of soccer recently and the position of goalie very recently.  The sport that I played all my life was basketball.

What is the best part about being on the Liberty Women's Soccer team?
I like being a part of the team itself.  We have a lot of fun, while making awesome friendships and playing an awesome sport.

Who is your favorite Superhero and why?
Superman, because he can fly and his hair never looks windblown.

What cartoon character are you most like and why?
I watched the old Disney cartoons and lived in Goofy's shadow.  He doesn't get too upset and just enjoys life and that's how I plan to live.

After graduation, I would like tohave someone give me their money, so I don't have to work.  But, if PLAN A falls, through I would like to work in the marketing department of a sports team or business.
