Liberty senior Jarvis Jelen, who won last Saturday's Longwood Invitational in his 2007 cross country season debut, has become the second-straight Flame to capture the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award, it was announced today.

Jelen (Sioux Falls, S.D.) covered the winding 8K course at the Longwood Golf Club in Farmville, Va., in 25:30, breaking the tape 34 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. The victory was the first of his Liberty career and helped the Flames to a second-place finish.

Sophomore Josh Edmonds (Cooperstown, N.Y.) was victorious in the season-opening Virginia Tech Invitational on Sept. 8 and won the Big South Runner of the Week distinction a week ago.

Jelen, Edmonds and the rest of the Liberty men's and women's cross country runners will have this weekend off of competition, before traveling to South Bend, Ind., on Sept. 28 for the Notre Dame Invitational.
