Liberty Finishes Third at the Troy Invitational
The Liberty men's golf team finished in third place out of nine squads in the Troy Invitational, at the 6,800-yard, par-72 Lagoon Park Golf Club, in Montgomery, Ala., on Tuesday.

The Flames, participating in their first tournament of the year, finished the day where they started, seven-strokes off the leader, eventual tournament champion, New Orleans (885). Liberty shot a 892 to finish one stroke behind host Troy University (891).
Jose Toledo (70-71-71—211) of New Orleans won individual honors, finishing five strokes under par. Michael McGrady (68-71-74—213) of Troy finished two strokes back, placing second. Liberty's Nathan Schenz-Davis (73-74-74—221) finished in third place, five strokes over par and 10 shots behind the medalist.

Jay Calvo (74-73-76—223) finished tied for sixth place at seven-over par. The Flames had two other top-20 finishers as Andrew Nelson (75-77-73—225) shot one-over par in the final round to finish in 13th place, while Parker McKoy (74-75-77—226) finished 10-strokes over par. Sang Chun (72-80-82—234) finished 18-over par in his first tournament with the Flames. Peter Horstman (77-71-82—230) participated as an individual, posting a final score 14-over par.

The Flames hit the links again Oct. 1-2, at the VCU Shootout. The tournament will be played at the Matiponi Springs Golf Club in Richmond, Va.
