Lara Bartolomeo paced all players with 18 digs in Liberty's 3-0 sweep of the Citadel, Saturday afternoon.

Playing its second match of the day, the Liberty volleyball team made quick work of The Citadel, Saturday afternoon at the Wright State Raider Challenge. It took the Lady Flames just 1:14 to win three-straight games from the Bulldogs, 30-25, 30-12, 30-16, at C.J. McLin Gymnasium.

The sweep, just the second of the season for Liberty, was aided by a .363 team attack percentage. The Lady Flames, who won two of three matches to finish second behind South Florida at the Wright State Raider Challenge, move to 5-4. Liberty has now posted its most non-conference victories in a season since the 2003 campaign. Meanwhile, The Citadel fell to 1-6 after losing to the Lady Flames for the second-consecutive season.

Kallie Corbin (So., S, Beaverton, Ore.) and Ashley Webber (Jr., MB, Lakeside, Calif.) were both included on the all-tournament team at the weekend's conclusion. For Corbin, it was the third-straight weekend she has been voted to an all-tournament roster.

Liberty recorded 24 kills during the opening game, but had difficulty shaking The Citadel. The Lady Flames built an early, 17-9 margin, before the Bulldogs fought their way back into the game. An ensuing 12-4 run by The Citadel knotted the score at 21.

The score was also tied at 22 and 23, but Liberty ended the game by scoring seven of the next nine points. Corbin wrapped up the Lady Flames' 30-25 triumph with consecutive kills.

Jessica Nelson (R-Jr., OH, Tokyo, Japan) took charge of game two from the outset, smashing down kills for each of Liberty's first three points. In the stanza, which the Lady Flames never trailed, Nelson recorded seven kills on her 10 swings. Her .700 attack percentage helped Liberty record a .395 team attack percentage for the game, which ended in a 30-12 Liberty win.

The third and decisive game was similar to the second. Again, Liberty raced out to a fast start and never looked back. Eleven different Lady Flames saw the court during the final game, a 30-16 victory. Corbin served up her fifth and sixth aces of the day, including the earlier match against Wright State, to notch the final two points of the afternoon and give Liberty head coach Shane Pinder a win in his 100th career match as a collegiate head coach.

Alysson Sanders (R-Jr., OH, Bear, Del.) hit .357 and produced a season-high 14 kills to go along with nine digs. Nelson chipped in with her second double-double of the day, finishing up with 13 kills and 11 digs. Chelaine McCarty (So., MB, Houston, Ala.) also made it into double figures in the kill category, totaling 11 and adding a team-high five blocks.

Corbin narrowly missed her first triple-double of the season, posting nine kills and eight digs to complement her match-high 39 assists. Lara Bartolomeo (Sr., L/DS, Huntington Beach, Calif.) led all players with her 18 digs.

Rachel Sanders sparked The Citadel's offense with eight kills. Setter Emily Hill closed out the match with 22 assists and nine digs.

Liberty's fourth early-season tournament, the Villanova Classic, will open with a Lady Flame match-up against Princeton at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The Lady Flames will play four matches in total at Villanova's Nevin Field House, next weekend.
