Sophomore guard/forward Megan Frazee made such a full and successful recovery from ACL surgery this past season that she has been voted the Sparky Award winner for Best Female Athlete. Meanwhile, voting is now open for Best Male Athlete. The five nominees include Larry Blair, Tim Harner, Josh McDougal, Manny Rojas and Osei Telesford. Megan Frazee, one-third of a set of triplets on the Liberty women's basketball team, was leading the Lady Flames in scoring and rebounding before she suffered a season-ending ACL injury halfway through her freshman season. Fast forward to the 2006-07 season, and Frazee showed no ill effects of the injury, again leading her team with 17.2 ppg and 8.5 rpg and ranking in the top five of seven different Big South statistical categories.

A first-team All-Big South performer as well as a first-team all-state pick by both VaSID and the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Frazee's defining performance came in Liberty's 75-71 win at Virginia on Nov. 20, 2006. That evening, she led all players with a career-high 37 points and 15 rebounds, helping the Lady Flames become the first visiting team ever to win at John Paul Jones Arena. This past summer, Frazee was invited to the 2007 USA Basketball Women's National Team Trials. To view Frazee's bio, click here.

Liberty fans are now asked to choose the year's Best Male Athlete from among the following options: senior guard Larry Blair (Basketball), sophomore 141-pounder Tim Harner (Wrestling), junior distance runner Josh McDougal (Track/Cross Country), senior linebacker Manny Rojas (Football) and senior defender/midfielder Osei Telesford (Soccer). The winner will be determined through fan voting on the Flames Poll, the newest addition to LibertyFlames.com. The Flames Poll is located on the right-hand side of the main page of LibertyFlames.com.

The poll for Best Male Athlete will remain open until Aug. 20, at which time the winner will be announced on LibertyFlames.com.
