Monroe Named to 2006-07 NABC Honors Court
Liberty men's basketball player Russell Monroe was named to the 2006-07 NABC Honors Court, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The NABC Honors Court recognizes those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excel in academics. In order to be named to the Honors Court, an athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2006-07 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of an NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA Institution.
Monroe (Sr., Alma, Mich.) is majoring in sport management and carries a 3.31 cumulative G.P.A. into his senior year. As a junior, Monroe, a 6-10 forward, appeared in 26 of the Flames' 31 games, making 66.7 percent of his shots from the field. For his academic success, Monroe was also named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll for the third-straight season, as well as, earning 2007 Big South All-Academic team honors.
