Flames Club Giving Reaches Record Level
Flames Club gifts are contributed on an annual basis, and help to underwrite the costs of operating the Liberty Athletics program. Membership levels range from $50 to $10,000, with members enjoying preferred seating, parking and pre-game dining privileges based upon contribution level.
The Flames Club Annual Fund totals do not include capital gifts, which are donated towards a specific athletics facility addition or improvement. Capital gifts can result in naming rights recognition, but do not include Flames Club benefits. Total year-to-date giving to Liberty Athletics, including capital gifts, had reached $871,000 at the end of July, compared to $140,000 at the same time last year.
Bob Good, Director of Athletics Development & Flames Club, said that the athletics administration is very pleased with the positive trend in giving to benefit the program. "We set a goal of reaching $500,000 in gifts to the Flames Club Annual Fund this year, which would represent a ten-fold increase from where we were as recently as 2004, and we feel that we have a realistic chance of reaching that goal." Good attributed the increase in giving to Liberty Athletics to excitement over the direction of the football program, and the athletics program overall under the direction of Director of Athletics Jeff Barber.
