Liberty's Adrian Bumbut has been named to the 2007 PDL All-Eastern Conference team.

Liberty Flames men's soccer player Adrian Bumbut has been selected to the 2007 Premier Development League (PDL) All-Eastern Conference team as voted by the league coaches and general mangers.

Bumbut, a rising senior for the Flames, was one of 44 of the league's top players named to the team for his play this summer with the Fredericksburg Gunners. The midfielder/forward was Fredericksburg's lone representative on the team. Bumbut was the team's second-leading scorer with 12 points on five goals and two assists in 15 games. The Gunners finished fourth in the PDL's Eastern Conference with a 7-7-2 mark.

"Adrian has worked very hard at his improving his ability to play as both a forward and a midfielder," commented Liberty head coach Jeff Alder. "I feel his performance this spring and summer will allow him to have a great senior year for us. His competitive greatness shines through in both training sessions and games."

Last fall, the Zalau, Romania native, played in all 16 Liberty contests, finishing the season as the Flames leading scorer with six goals and two assists for 14 points. The midfielder/forward ranked in the top 10 in the Big South Conference in goals and points per game.

Bumbut and the Flames will open their 2007 campaign on Aug. 31 at Liberty Soccer Field against Mount Vernon Nazarene. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
