Guridy and Keys Elevated to New Positions within Athletics Department

Liberty University Director of Athletics Jeff Barber has named Anna Whitehurst the program's new Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Operations, effective immediately. He has also promoted current staff members Mickey Guridy and Kevin Keys to new positions within the department.

Guridy has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations, while Keys has been elevated to the position of Associate Athletics Director for External Operations.

Guridy is the elder statesman of the Athletics Department, having served the program in various roles over the past 14 years, including a four-month stint as interim Director of Athletics, from November 2005 to February 2006. Since July 2006, Guridy has served the department as Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations.

Keys is entering his third year with the Athletics Department, having served the program as Assistant Athletics Director for External Operations since rejoining the staff in August 2005. Keys is no stranger to Liberty Athletics, as the 30-year veteran of intercollegiate athletics was a member of the Sports Information staff for 11 years (1975-85), including being named the program's first-ever Sports Information Director in 1977.

The newest addition to the Athletics Department staff is Whitehurst, who has spent the last four years working in North Carolina State's Athletic Ticket Office, including the past two years as Assistant Director of Ticket Operations.

In her latest position with the Wolfpack, Whitehurst oversaw the daily operations of the Athletic Ticket Office. She was responsible for game day ticket operations for home football and men's basketball games, supervising the main box office, will call and sales windows.

"We are excited to have Anna join the Liberty Athletics team," commented Barber about Whitehurst. "Her experience and knowledge will be a great asset to our program as we continue to grow."

Whitehurst joined the North Carolina State Athletic Department in September 2003 as Assistant Ticket Manager, a position she held until being promoted to Assistant Director of Ticket Operations in October 2005.

As Assistant Ticket Manager, Whitehurst ran ticket operations for soccer, gymnastics, baseball and women's basketball games, and aided game day ticket operations for home football and men's basketball games.

She has managed ticket operations for numerous North Carolina State bowl game and NCAA Tournament appearances and was the host ticket manager for the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Women's College Cup in Raleigh, N.C.

"Leaving my home and alma mater was a difficult decision for me, but I feel a peace in my heart God has prepared and led me to this position at Liberty University," commented Whitehurst. "I am thrilled to be joining the Liberty Athletics team!"

Whitehurst is a December 2002 graduate of North Carolina State, receiving a bachelor of science degree in parks, recreation and tourism management with a concentration in sport management.
Shortly after receiving her degree, Whitehurst served as box office intern for the Aberdeen Ironbirds, a short-season Single A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles in Aberdeen, Md., for five months (May – September 2002).

Prior to returning to her alma mater, Whitehurst was employed as the group sales associate and merchandise manager for the Carolina Mudcats, the Florida Marlins' AA affiliate in Zebulon, N.C., from January to September 2003.
