Liberty golfer Nathan Schenz-Davis finished tied for 12th after shooting a five-under par at the 2007 Eastern Amateur at the Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club in Portsmouth, Va., over the weekend.

Schenz-Davis (San Diego, Calif.) finished the four-round tournament on Sunday with a one-under par (69) round at the par-70 course. For the tournament, Schenz-Davis shot a 275 (70-67-69-69), placing him in a five-way tie for 12th out of 169 golfers. Schenz-Davis finished 10 strokes behind champion Bill Rankin, rising junior at Michigan, who shot a tournament-low 63 in round three.

The strong tournament field included a number of competitors from Australia, including Matthew Griffin who was the top Aussie at six-under, good for a tie for 10th place.

Schenz-Davis is a rising sophomore at Liberty after sitting out the past season with a redshirt.
