Rebekah Ricksecker, the current Big South Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, races towards the Big South 1,500-meter title.

For the second consecutive week, a Liberty women's track athlete has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week. This week's honoree is sophomore Rebekah Ricksecker, who clocked a personal-best 800-meter time at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier, last Thursday.

Ricksecker (Laurel, Del.) finished in a time of 2:11.33, finishing a close second to Virginia Tech's Tasmin Fanning, during a steady rain shower. Teammate Jaime Watson (So., Ravenna, Mich.) is the only conference runner who has posted a better 800-meter time this season, crossing the line in 2:10.50 at the Big South Championships. Ricksecker was just five-hundredths of a second away from becoming one of Liberty's top five all-time performers in the event.

Ricksecker's athlete of the week selection follows that of Carol Jefferson (Jr., Schwenksville, Pa.) a week ago. Arlene Zelinskas (Sr., Dayton, Ohio) was the other Lady Flame to capture the honor during the current outdoor campaign, doing so on March 21.

The sophomore is entered in both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter events at this weekend's ECAC Championships, in Princeton, N.J. The three-day event kicks off at Noon Friday, while the 800 and 1,500-meter trials are set for Saturday and the finals for Sunday.
