The Liberty Flames men's soccer team completed an unbeaten spring season this past Saturday by shutting out three opponents and going 2-0-1 at a spring tournament hosted by Hampden-Sydney.

Liberty finishes the spring with a 7-0-1 record. The team outscored its opponents
16-3 in the eight contests.

The Flames opened the tournament with a 1-0 victory over host Hampden-Sydney. Forward Toby Lewis' fourth goal of the spring was the difference maker.

In its second contest of the afternoon, Liberty played Mary Washington to a 0-0 draw. The Flames dominated ball possession throughout the match, but could not connect for a game-winning tally.

In the final contest of the afternoon, Liberty met Longwood. The Lancers, a defensive-minded team, made it a tight contest. The Flames prevailed on an Adrian Bumbut goal for a 1-0 win to complete their spring season. The tally was the forward/midfielder's fourth of the spring.

"I was pleased with the growth of our team this spring," commented head coach Jeff Alder. "We wanted to carve out a new identity for ourselves this spring and go undefeated in the process. I feel we met our goals as group."

"The group has taken ownership of its performance each day and has laid a great foundation for the upcoming fall season," Alder concluded.
