The 2007 New Balance Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships provided a weekend full of positive memories for the Liberty men's and women's track and field teams, April 19-21. Competing on their home track, the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex, the Flames and Lady Flames swept the Big South team titles for the first time since 2002.

The Liberty men's squad rolled to victory, outdistancing defending meet champion Coastal Carolina by 74 points. The triumph completed a Big South "Triple Crown" for the men's team, as the Flames had previously captured conference titles in men's cross country and men's indoor track.

On the women's side, the Lady Flames edged Coastal Carolina by 13.5 points, ending the Chanticleers' three-year streak of Big South championships. Liberty's title was its first since 2003.

At meet's end, junior Jon Hart was named Big South Most Outstanding Field Performer, senior Arlene Zelinskas was tabbed Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year and head coach Brant Tolsma was voted Big South Men's and Women's Coach of the Year.
