Liberty Finishes In Fifth Place At PUPS Big South Men's Championship

Coastal Carolina takes home the PUPS Big South Conference Men's Golf Championship after shooting a round low 282 to win by 23-strokes over Winthrop at the par-72 6,987 yard Limestone Springs Golf Course in Oneonta, Ala. on Wednesday.

Winthrop (299-301-289) finished with an 889 for the tournament and two strokes ahead of Charleston Southern (302-296-293) who finished with an 891. Radford (307-305-285) rounds out the top four teams with an 897.

Dustin Johnson (71-67-66) of Coastal Carolina holds onto his lead to win individual honors as he shot a tournament low 66 to finish 12-under par for the tournament at 204. Ryan Wilson (73-71-71) of High Point finished 11-strokes off the leader to finish one-under for the tournament at 215. Brent Martin (72-76-71) of Winthrop and Zack Byrd (71-74-74) of Coastal Carolina finished tied for third with a 219.

Liberty (307-300-299) finished in fifth place with a 906. The Flames finished in the same spot they were seeded for the tournament. Michael Turner (76-69-75) entered the day tied for third, but shot a 74 in round three to finish tied for fifth at four-over par at 220.

Jay Calvo (77-73-78) finished with a 228 good for 20th place while Parker McKoy (76-78-76) finished in 21st place with a 230. Andrew Nelson (79-80-72) shot a 231 and concluded tied for 22nd. Stephen Hawk (78-80-72) rounds out the Flame five tied for 24th with a 234.

The Flames are back in action on May 5 when they play in their final tournament of the year when they hit the links at the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State.
