Tim Nanry went 3-for-4 with two doubles in game two of Friday's doubleheader.

The Charleston Southern Buccaneers scored three runs in both the second and fourth innings and then outlasted the Liberty Flames, 6-4, in game two for a split of the Big South doubleheader between the two squads, Friday afternoon at Worthington Stadium. Liberty won the first game, 4-2.

Just as in the first game, Charleston Southern scored first in the contest with three runs on five hits in the second inning. Sean Doherty and Will Rodriguez opened the frame with back-to-back singles and advanced into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Adam Brown pushed the first Buccaneer run of the contest across with a bunt base hit. Wes Brundridge followed with a single in front of the right fielder to plate Rodriguez to make it, 2-0, and Stephen Herzog made it three straight batters to reach with a run-scoring double down the left field line.

In the bottom of the second, Liberty cut the Charleston Southern advantage to 3-2. Tim Nanry (Sr., DH, Rochester, N.Y.) ripped a double past the third base bag into the left field corner to lead off the frame for the Flames and moved to third on a balk. After Cody Brown (R-So., 1B, Boca Raton, Fla.) was hit by a pitch to put runners at the corners, Patrick Gaillard (Sr., SS, Taylors, S.C.) lined a RBI single to left for a 3-1 Buccaneer advantage. Liberty then loaded the sacks on a single by Errol Hollinger (So., C, Upland, Calif.) and scored its second run of the frame on a fielder's choice ground out by Aaron Phillips (Jr., 3B, Claremore, Okla.).

The Buccaneers added three more runs in the fourth inning for a 6-2 edge. Brundridge hit a one-out double. After a fly out to right field, the Flames seemed out of the frame with an infield pop- up in front of the pitcher's mound. However, it would be dropped by the pitcher for an error and Charleston Southern took advantage of the prolonged at bat. Justin Fyle capitalized by doubling to the base of the center field wall to chase home Brundridge. David Perkins followed with a two-run single up the middle.

Liberty tightened the gap in the eighth. Garrett Young (Jr., CF, Fountain Valley, Calf.) singled and scored on a double by Nanry to begin the inning. Three batters later, Holliger singled cleanly to left to score Nanry and make it, 6-4, but the Flames would never get any closer.

Liberty starter Tyler Light (So., RHP, San Bernardino, Calif.) drops to 4-2 on the season, after giving up six runs, three earned, on 11 hits. Charleston Southern starter Cody Higgins allowed three runs on eight hits over seven innings to run his season's mark to 4-1.

Nanry went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI to lead Liberty, who had three other hitters with two hits apiece in the game. Brundridge and Fyle recorded three hits each for Charleston Southern, who had 15 hits in the game. Two other Buccaneers also had two hits apiece.

Due to rain showers forecasted for the Lynchburg area, tomorrow's final contest of the three-game series is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
