Moore Becomes Third-Straight Lady Flame to Garner Big South Player of the Week Honors
Moore (Sr., OF, Chesapeake, Va.) guided Liberty to three victories last week over a five-game span. The senior batted .500 as she was 9-for-18, with eight runs scored, a double, a triple, two home runs, eight RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
She hit safely in all five of Liberty's games, including two games where she recorded three hits, marking 13th and 14th time this year the outfielder has recorded multiple hits during a game.
Moore opened the week by going 3-for-4 with a triple in the first game of a doubleheader at James Madison, followed by a 1-for-4 outing in the nightcap against the Dukes, scoring a run and hitting a double to guide Liberty to a 5-3 victory.
During Liberty's Big South opener against Winthrop, Moore capped off a seven-run seventh inning with a grand slam home run, sending the game into extra innings. In the second game of the Friday doubleheader, Moore was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, lifting Liberty to a 7-2 victory.
During the Big South Conference rubber match on Saturday, Moore was 1-for-2 with her second grand slam in as many days, helping Liberty take the series by virtue of a 9-0 five-inning victory over the Eagles.
On the season, Moore leads the team with 12 home runs, 36 RBI and a .782 slugging percentage, while ranking second on the team with a .403 batting average, 36 runs scored and 50 base hits.
Moore is the fifth Lady Flame to be honored this season by the Big South Conference and the fourth over the last four weeks. Sarah Swor was named Big South Player of the Week on Feb. 20, followed by Terra Lowe being named Big South Pitcher of the Week on March 19.
Ashley Williams shared Player of the Week honors on March 26 and Dawn Jeffs received the honor last week on April 2.
Before returning to Big South Conference action this weekend when they host Charleston Southern for a three-game set on Friday and Saturday, Liberty returns to the softball diamond on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Virginia. First pitch of the afternoon is set for 2 p.m.
