The Liberty women's tennis team produced one of the best seasons in program history in 2014, finishing with a 15-9 overall record and a 7-2 mark in Big South competition.

The Lady Flames' 15 overall wins tied the single-season program record, which was originally achieved in both the 2009 and 2011 seasons.  The seven Big South victories set a new Liberty single-season record, breaking the old mark of six, which was set in 2009 as well as 2011.

During the successful season, the Lady Flames garnered their first-ever ITA national ranking on March 4, coming in at No. 74. Concluding the year, Liberty captured its highest regional ranking in program history, coming in at No. 7 in the Atlantic Region. The Lady Flames' No. 7 ranking placed them ahead of regional powers such as William & Mary and Penn State.  This marks the second year that the program has been regionally ranked, joining the 2011 squad which concluded the season ranked No. 10.

When asked about tying the single-season wins record, Liberty head coach Jeff Maren stated, "I don't know that I was thinking about breaking records, but I certainly thought that we were going to win a lot of matches.  When I looked at our schedule, I felt that we could win 15 to 17 matches or more."
