2014-15 Swimming & Diving Schedule

The defending CCSA champion Liberty swimming & diving team will make its first-ever regular-season trip to the West Coast, as the team's 2014-15 competition schedule was released today by fifth-year head coach Jake Shellenberger. The Lady Flames will face programs from several major conferences, including Oregon State of the PAC-12, the Big Ten's Penn State and Virginia Tech of the ACC.

The Lady Flames will compete in eight regular-season meets, including the mid-season Virginia Tech Invitational.

Liberty opens the season at CCSA foe Campbell on Sept. 26, marking the third time in the five-year history of Liberty's swimming & diving program that the Lady Flames have begun a campaign against the Camels.

The squad embarks on its first West Coast trip, to Corvallis, Oregon, for a tri-meet against the PAC-12's Oregon State Beavers and Seattle on Oct. 10. Liberty and Oregon State both tied for 43rd place at the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.

For the third year in a row, the Lady Flames will compete in the Virginia Tech Sprint Classic, held on Oct. 18 at Christiansburg Aquatic Center. While in Christiansburg, Liberty will face Virginia Tech, Penn State, James Madison and Old Dominion. Penn State (18th) and Virginia Tech (24th) both finished in the top 25 at the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.

On Oct. 31, the Lady Flames host four-time defending Atlantic-10 champion Richmond, for Liberty's lone home meet of the campaign at the LaHaye Aquatics Center. The Spiders edged Liberty in Richmond last season, 152-138.

The Lady Flames close out the fall schedule, Nov. 20-22, at the Virginia Tech Invitational. This marks the third straight season during which Liberty will compete twice at Virginia Tech's home facility, the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.

Liberty will ring in the New Year with its annual training trip to Fort Myers, Florida. The team wraps up its time in Florida on Jan. 3 by competing in the FGCU Quad Meet against 2014 CCSA runner-up Florida Gulf Coast, Campbell and Central Connecticut State.

The squad continues a busy January schedule on Jan. 17, at 2014 CAA runner-up James Madison in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the second scheduled meeting between the two programs during the 2014-15 season.

Liberty concludes the regular season at the Davidson Duals for the fifth consecutive season, Jan. 30-31, taking on former CCSA opponent Davidson, along with current conference members Gardner-Webb and Georgia Southern.

The Lady Flames will look to defend their 2014 conference title, at the 2015 CCSA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. The conference meet will take place, Feb. 18-21, at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be held in at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, March 19-21. Liberty has scored at two of the last three national championships.
