Hurdling Duo Achieves Personal-Best Performances at Aggie Relays
Williams (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) completed the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.91 and Ward (Jr., Martinsville, Va.) finished closely behind, in a clocking of 1:04.99. Liberty now has three heptathletes (also Arlene Zelinskas (Sr., Dayton, Ohio)) who have run the 400 hurdles under 1:05 this season.
Chenoa Freeman (Fr., Lincoln, Del.) also excelled in a one-lap event, posting a lifetime best of 56.63 seconds in the open 400 meters. Her effort was good enough for fourth place. Charlene Hibbert (Jr., Mississauga, Ontario) came in third in the long jump, with a top leap of 17-10.75.
Andrea Beckles (So., Lynchburg, Va.) was another Lady Flame who recorded a new career best on Friday. She ran the 100-meter dash in 11.96 seconds, making her the third-fastest qualifier to Saturday's final. Beckles is now tied with Mynique Robinson as the No. 3 all-time performer in the event in program history.
Throwers stood out among the Liberty men's participants on Friday. Barrett (Jr., Thrornton, W. Va.) threw the discus 131-3 and Galeone (Fr., White Hall, Md.) tossed it 130-8. Andrew Bartels (So., Grantham, Pa.) captured the runner-up award in the shot put, posting a best mark of 44-3.25.
The second day of the Aggie Relays will get underway at 8:30 a.m., Saturday morning with the men's javelin.
