Liberty is Commonwealth's Leader in Conference Championships

For the fifth year in a row, Liberty Athletics led all programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia by winning eight conference titles during the 2013-14 academic year.

The Virginia Sports Information Director (VaSID) recently released their 2013-14 All-Sports Championship survey and Liberty's eight conference titles were tops among Division I athletics programs in the Commonwealth.

During the last five athletics seasons, Liberty has claimed a total of 42 conference titles (2009-10: 8; 2010-11: 8; 2011-12: 8 and 2012-13: 10; 2013-14: 8).

Virginia and Hampton ranked second on the 2013-14 VaSID All-State Championship survey with both athletics programs claiming five conference titles.

During the 2013-14 season, Liberty captured conference titles in the following programs: men's cross country, football, men's golf, men's indoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field, field hockey, women's soccer and women's swimming & diving.

The survey also included the release of the 36th annual VaSID Division I All-Sport Championship winner, which was claimed by Virginia.

The Cavaliers have captured the All-Sports Championship six of the last season years and eight out of the last 11 athletics seasons.

Virginia won 65.5 percent of its intercollegiate athletics events during the 2013-14 season. Virginia's baseball team finished second at the College World Series, while men's tennis, women's lacrosse, men's soccer and women's soccer all advanced to their sports semifinals.  Women's tennis advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight and rowing finished fifth at the NCAA Championships with women's swimming and diving finishing in 11th place.
The Cavaliers finished fourth overall (1118.50) in the final 2013-14 Division 1 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, ranking behind only Stanford (1482), Florida (1216.50) and Notre Dame (1128.25).

Liberty's winning percentage of 51.2 percent (186-177-2) finished seventh on the all-state listing, while Liberty's 186 total victories ranked fourth overall among Commonwealth NCAA Division I athletics programs.
Liberty ranked fourth in the men's all-state listing (85-62-0/57.8 percent) and eighth in the women's all-state rankings (101-115-2/46.8 percent).
