Clendon Henderson placed third in the discus and fifth in the shot put, highlighting day three action at the Texas Relays.

Liberty junior Clendon Henderson finished third with a new Liberty and Big South record throw in the discus and ended up fifth in the shot put to highlight a busy Friday afternoon at the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. Classmate Jon Hart added a third-place shot put finish on a successful day for the Flames' throwing corps.

Henderson (Meadow, Texas) threw the discus 181-9, which improved upon his own school and conference record of 180-2, achieved earlier this season at the Shamrock Invitational. The junior placed third, as UCLA's Darius Savage won the "B" section of the event with a toss of 193-4.

Earlier in the day, Henderson and Hart (Wyomissing, Pa.) had excelled in the shot put. Hart's top mark of 55-5.5 placed him just 8.25 inches behind the "B" section shot put champion, Akron's Auston Papay. Henderson posted a season-best 54-10 effort, good for a fifth-place finish.

Also competing for the Flames on the third day of the Texas Relays were Tim O'Donnell (Jr., Hurst, Texas) and Matt Parker (So., Rome, N.Y.), in the 110-meter hurdle prelims. Neither advanced to the finals, as O'Donnell recorded the 27th-fastest time, 14.68 and Parker was 36th with a 14.88 clocking.

Parker will be the lone Liberty athlete in action during Saturday's final day of competition in Austin, as he is slated to participate in the high jump. The event is scheduled for a noon Eastern start.
