Hernandez, Witmer Post Top-12 Finishes in Eugene

Oasis Hernandez came in 11th in the women's triple jump at the 2014 USATF Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Liberty freshmen Oasis Hernandez and Mary Witmer placed in the top 12 of their respective events, Saturday at the 2014 USATF Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

Hernandez triple jumped 38-0 on her third attempt for the Kansas native's best mark of the evening. That placed her 11th overall in the competition.

Meanwhile, Witmer clocked the second fastest 400-meter hurdles time of her career, 1:01.17. The effort was good for fifth place in her heat and 12th place out of 21 total competitors in the event preliminaries.

The top two finishers in each event advanced to the 2014 IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships, slated for July 22-27 at Hayward Field.
