Chase Marinell (pictured), along with Niklas Lindstrom, have been named to the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association (VSGCA) All-State teams.

Seniors Niklas Lindstrom and Chase Marinell have been named to their second all-state team this month, as the pair of standout golfers were recently named to the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association (VSGCA) All-State teams.

Lindstrom was one of five VSGCA first-team all-state honorees, while Marinell joined four other golfers on the VSGCA second-team all-state listing.

This is the third year that both golfers have been named to a VSGCA all-state team. Marinell garnered first-team honors in 2012 and 2013, while Lindstrom was a repeat second-team selection the same years.

The 2014 VSGCA All-State teams were made up of four golfers from Virginia, three from Virginia Tech, two from Liberty and one from VCU. Virginia Tech's Jay Hardwick was named the VSGCA Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

Earlier this month, Lindstrom and Marinell were both second-team selections on the Virginia Sports Information Director (VaSID) all-state team.

In May, both Lindstrom and Marinell were named to the PING East All-Region team after helping lead the Flames to a third Big South title during their four-year collegiate playing careers. Liberty finished the season ranked No. 35 in the country by Golfstat and No. 38 by Golfweek.

Lindstrom saved his best season for last at Liberty, as he led the team with a 72.81 stroke average and a team-best five top five finishes. The Kalmar, Sweden, native finished the year individually ranked No. 63 in the country by Golfstat after finishing third at last month's NCAA Eugene Regional.

Marinell, a native of Fort Myers, Fla., was second on Liberty's roster with a 72.97 stroke average during his final season with the Flames, which included 15 rounds at par or better and a team-best six top 10 finishes.

The 2014 Big South Men's Golfer of the Year finished his final year at Liberty ranked No. 147 in the country by Golfstat. His 73.04 career stroke average ranks second-best in program history.
