Dunay and Moyer Garner VaSID All-State Honors
Liberty lacrosse standouts Jen Moyer and Nina Dunay were both tabbed to the 2014 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State University Division Women's Lacrosse second team this week. This marks the second consecutive season the Lady Flames have had two players earn all-state recognition.
Moyer earns the first VaSID all-state honor of her career. The senior was also tabbed to the Big South All-Conference first team earlier this spring. A defender, Moyer started all 18 games this season and finished first on the team and seventh in the Big South in ground balls per game (2.22). The Telford, Pa., native was second on the Lady Flames in draw controls with 25 and third in caused turnovers with 13. On April 11 against Big South champion High Point, Moyer collected career highs in ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (5). In the Big South Lacrosse Championship quarterfinals, Moyer matched her career high in ground balls, scooping up five against No. 2 seed Davidson.
Dunay garners her second postseason honor of the season, coupling her all-state plaudit with a Big South All-Conference second team nod. Starting all 18 games on the midfield line for Liberty, Dunay ranked first on the team and seventh in the league in caused turnovers per game (1.28). The senior was one of the Lady Flames' top offensive threats this season as well, ranking third on the team in goals (22), points (33) and second in assists (11). Earlier this season, Dunay moved into first place on Liberty's career goals and points listing with 99 and 131, respectively. The Ashburn, Va., native finished the season tied for third on the team in ground balls (34) and fourth in draw controls (17).
