Following the team's fourth-straight NCAA Regional appearance, LFSN reporter Alan York had a chance to catch up with Flames Head Golf Coach Jeff Thomas to reflect on the 2013-14 season.

Liberty won its third Big South title in the last four years. The Flames claimed a five-stroke victory over Charleston Southern, and finished 11 shots ahead of defending champion Coastal Carolina at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C., in April.

The victory earned the Flames their fourth-straight NCAA Regional appearance and the program's sixth NCAA postseason berth overall. Liberty was the No. 6 seed at the NCAA Eugene Regional where the Flames finished tied for eighth place in the 13-team field at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore., in May.

Niklas Lindstrom led the Flames at the NCAA Regionals with a third-place finished with a two-over par 212 (70-72-70). The senior missed individually advancing to the NCAA Men's Golf National Championship when he lost to Chattanooga's Chris Robb in a one-hole playoff.

The Flames' 2013-14 season saw Liberty post a pair of tournament victories, including a win at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass – The Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in February.

Liberty had three players earn GCAA All-Region honors following the 2013-14 season. Seniors Chase Marinell and Lindstrom and junior Mathieu Fenasse were each selected for the all-region listing.

Marinell, who was named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Year, finished his career at Liberty with the second-best career stroke average in program history (73.04).

Liberty finished the year ranked No. 35 in the country by Golfstat and No. 38 by Golfweek. Liberty's highest team national ranking during the 2013-14 season was at No. 24 by Golfstat following the conclusion of play of the fall schedule.
