Robinson Named to Capital One Academic All-America Third Team
Liberty junior second baseman Megan Robinson has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Softball third team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Robinson, a native of Richlands, Va., is the first Lady Flames softball player all-time to be voted an Academic All-American. She becomes the 20th student-athlete in Liberty athletics department history to be voted to a CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I team.
A total of 33 student-athletes earned inclusion on this year's Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Softball team, divided up into three squads. Of the 33 honorees, Robinson is the lone representative of the Big South Conference.
Robinson holds a 4.0 grade-point average as a youth ministries major. A Big South All-Academic Team member as a sophomore and junior, Robinson has been named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll twice. She also earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete mention in 2012.
Robinson was a catalyst for the Lady Flames' offense this season, earning Big South All-Conference first team honors at second base. She batted .303, while leading Liberty with 10 doubles and a .526 slugging percentage.
She ranked second on the team in home runs (8) and RBIs (26) and third in runs scored, with 23. Her nine multiple-RBI contests paced the Lady Flames, while she was second on the squad with 13 multiple-hit games.
She went on a team-best nine-game hitting streak, batting 14-for-31 (.451) from April 18 through April 26. During conference play, she hit .307 with eight doubles, four homers, 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
