Yang Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team
Complete Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Teams
Liberty junior tennis student-athlete Brittany Yang has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District III At-Large Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), today. Yang is the second Liberty female student-athlete to earn academic all-district at-large honors, after Helen Doolittle (field hockey) did so in 2013.
As a result of her inclusion on the academic all-district team, Yang will now appear on the ballot for the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I At-Large Team. The at-large classification encompasses sports which do not have their own academic all-district team.
Yang, a native of Newnan, Ga., carries a 4.0 grade-point average as a graphic design major. She was listed on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll as both a freshman and sophomore, and is a two-time member of the Big South All-Academic Team (2013, 2014).
On the court, Yang had a standout 2013-14 campaign. She helped the Lady Flames to their first-ever Top 75 ITA national ranking this season while Liberty tied the program record with 15 wins as a team. Yang went 21-9 overall in singles play in 2013-14, tying for the team lead with 14 singles victories in the spring. She posted an 18-15 doubles record, and was named to the Big South All-Conference double team with partner Belen Rivera. Yang and Rivera were also honored as Big South No. 2 doubles flight champion this year, after going 8-1 as a pair in conference play.
