Liberty men's tennis head coach Chris Johnson has announced the signing of Diego Castano to a National Letter of Intent. Castano will enroll at Liberty for the 2014-15 academic year.

"Diego is a great addition to our program," commented Johnson. "He will come in and make an immediate impact on our starting line-up."

Castano hails from Statesville, N.C. and will join Flames after attending Statesville Christian School. Castano has been ranked as high as No. 3 in North Carolina by Tennis Recruiting Network and holds many junior titles to along with that ranking.

"I picked Liberty because of everything I saw there," stated Castano. "Being able to go to a school where Christ is the main focus is where I want to be. Also, the tennis team has a bunch of great guys and the coaches are very nice. They all want to win, but also really want to show who Christ is and that's what I want to do too. The campus is very beautiful with the mountains in the background.  I cannot wait to be part of the Liberty family and glorifying Christ!"

"The really cool thing about Diego is that he genuinely wants to play for Christ," mentioned Johnson. He wants to use his tennis to reach people and change lives. We are so excited to see him come to Liberty and get started!"
