Layer Signs Andoh to NLI

David Andoh has signed an NLI to attend Liberty University during the 2014-15 academic year.

Head Liberty Men's Basketball Coach Dale Layer has announced the signing of David Andoh for the 2014-15 academic year.

"We are excited about the addition of David to our program," Layer stated. "He has good athleticism and skills. He has position versatility and can score and rebound at a very high level.  He is a terrific fit as a person, student and player. He will definitely help us immediately in the front court."

Andoh (F, 6-7, 215, Montreal, Quebec, Canada) makes his way to the Hill City after playing one year at Merritt College in Oakland, Calif., under the tutelage of head coach Maurice Compton and associate head coach Keenan McMiller. This past season with the Thunderbirds, Andoh averaged 13.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 25 contests. The Thunderbirds finished second in the Bay Valley Conference with an 11-5 mark, while Andoh earned Bay Valley All-Conference honors.

Prior to his time at Merritt, the Canadian spent his freshman year at San Jose State where he averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 21 contests. Andoh's point total included a season-high 12-point performance against Texas State, going 5-of-8 from the field.

Andoh played his senior season of high school basketball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Before his time at IMG, Andoh played his junior year at Saint Mary's High in Berkeley, Calif., where he averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists that season. Andoh also played AAU basketball for Belmont Shore, coached by Dinos Trigonis. Coming out of high school, the forward was rated a three-star player by Rivals.com and Scout.com and was ranked No. 123 in the class of 2012 by Northstar Basketball.

Andoh becomes the eighth signee to commit to Liberty this year, joining seven other players –  James Johnson (F, 6-10, 235, San Diego, Calif.), Peter Moller (G, 6-3, 185, Vaerloese, Denmark), Stavian Allen (F, 6-8, 195, Cary, N.C.), Braxton Bonds (G, 6-1, 170, Nashville, Tenn.), Evan Maxwell, (C, 6-10, 240, Scranton, Pa.), A.C. Reid (G/F, 6-5, 190, Spring Branch, Texas) and Ezra Talbert (F, 6-8, 190, Olathe, Kan.).
