Becker Garners Big South Freshman of the Week Honor
After posting a breakout week, Liberty attacker Olivia Becker has been tabbed the Crons Brand Big South Lacrosse Freshman of the Week for the first time in her young career.
Becker joins fellow attacker Michaela Rich as the two Lady Flames to earn the Freshman of the Week honor this season. Rich has garnered the award twice.
Becker made starts in each of Liberty's three games last week, after starting just one of the previous nine contests. The freshman capitalized on the opportunities, tallying a career-high three goals on Friday in the Lady Flames' Big South opener at Campbell. Becker needed just three shots to score the three markers.
The Round Hill, Va., native came right back on Sunday in Liberty's win at Presbyterian College with her second hat trick in as many games. Becker also chipped in a ground ball and secured a career-high four draw controls. Becker finished the week with six goals, nine shots, three ground balls and three draw controls.
Becker and the rest of the Lady Flames (2-10, 1-1 Big South) return to play on Friday when they host Big South leader High Point at Liberty Lacrosse Field. Game time against the Panthers is set for 4 p.m.
