Abigail Flower (front) and Ansley Gebben (rear) teamed up with Oasis Hernandez and Meghan Burggraf to clock a Liberty and Big South-record time of 3:53.34 in the sprint medley relay, Friday at the Texas Relays.

The Liberty quartet of Abigail Flower, Oasis Hernandez, Ansley Gebben and Meghan Burggraf sped to a time of 3:53.34 in the sprint medley relay on Friday at the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, shattering the program and Big South Conference records for the event.

Women's Day Two Recap
Flower and Hernandez ran 200 meters apiece on the sprint medley quartet, before handing off to Gebben for the 400-meter portion. Burggraf then ran the 800-meter anchor leg for the record-breaking squad. The Lady Flames won their heat and finished seventh overall, ahead of BYU and Texas, among others.

The previous program standard of 3:57.43 had been achieved by the squad of Panthera Seymour, Christina Schlesinger, Kodi Pollard and Heather Sagan at the Disney Relays on March 17, 2001. High Point held the Big South record before Friday, with its 3:56.49 effort during the 2008 season.

For Gebben, it was the redshirt sophomore's second school record in as many days. She lowered the Liberty women's 400 hurdles mark to 1:00.42 on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Gebben, Mary Witmer, Corinn Bedell and Burggraf clocked a time of 3:46.56 to place 22nd in the 4 x 400 relay prelims. In the process, they became the second-fastest outdoor quartet in program history and the fastest since the 2007 campaign.

Sophomore Janae Jones achieved an outdoor personal best of 40-4.75 to place sixth in Section B of the women's triple jump. She recorded the Big South Conference's first two 40-foot efforts of the 2014 outdoor season, including her 40-4.75 leap in round five. Teammate Melissa Rohwer came in 13th with a mark of 37-6.75.

Flower finished 40th in the 100 dash prelims in 12.02 seconds, while Hernandez notched a time of 12.18 seconds while battling a headwind for 53rd place.

Men's Day Two Recap
The Liberty men's squad enjoyed its best performance of the day in the 4 x 400 relay prelims. The grouping of Stephen Racanelli, ConRoy Smith, Colin Schultz and John Sherret posted a season-best and IC4A-qualifying time of 3:16.54 for 33rd place overall.

The same four runners later competed in the sprint medley relay, placing ninth with a time of 3:27.38. The Flames defeated Kansas and Mississippi in the race.

In the 100-meter dash prelims, Smith recorded a time of 10.69 for 39th place, while Racanelli clocked 10.83 into a headwind for the 51st spot.

Liberty will wrap up its busy weekend of competition on Saturday, with athletes entered in events at the Texas Relays, Raleigh Relays and Winthrop Invitational.
