Campbell fends off a second day surge by St. John's to capture the William & Mary Invitational crown by three-strokes on Tuesday at the par-71 River, 6,432 yard Course at Kingsmill in Williamsburg.

Detroit Mercy finished third while Towson and Delaware round out the top five.

Fredric Sundberg of Campbell won individual honors after shooting one-under par in round two to finish at five-under and two strokes lower then second place finisher Mark Sommerfeld of Detroit Mercy. Matt Evans of Campbell and Dan Mollicone of St. Johns tie for third, finishing the tournament even.

After winning this tournament over Maryland a year ago, finished tied for 10th with Loyola College, Drexel University and Georgetown finishing with a 607 for the two-day/36 hole event.

Making his first collegiate start, Andrew Nelson finished tied for 14th out of 111 players, shooting a 74 in round two to finish five-over for the tournament. Stephen Hawk finished 11-over while Jay Calvo shot a 74 on day two to finish 12-over. Rounding out the Flame five is Parker McKoy at 14-over and Peter Horstman at 18-over.

The Flames return to the links on Saturday in the Lacrosse Homes Collegiate hosted by Towson at the Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md.
