Volleyball Completes First Spring Tournament at N.C. State

Liberty volleyball began its spring schedule this past Saturday, competing in a tournament hosted by N.C. State at Reynolds Coliseum. 

The Lady Flames battled Big South rival Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Charlotte and Wingate.

Liberty swept East Carolina (29-27, 25-20), getting a team-high 12 kills from Caroline Douglas. The Lady Flames split a pair of sets with Coastal Carolina (21-25, 25-23) and Charlotte (27-25, 21-25), before dropping two sets to Wingate (20-25, 9-25).

For the day, Douglas led Liberty with 38 kills, including 13 kills against Charlotte. Melissa Racz recorded 15 kills, while Haley Jeffcoat chipped in with 14 kills. Gabrielle Shipe collected a team-high 19 digs during Saturday's matches.

The Lady Flames will next play on Saturday in an invitational held by the Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club, in Virginia Beach, Va. During the tournament, Liberty will face George Washington, Hampton, William & Mary and Norfolk State.
