The Liberty Lady Flames field hockey team made tremendous strides on the field during the 2013 season in just its third season as a program. Liberty posted a 17-5 overall record en route to its second consecutive NorPac East Division title and its first ever NorPac Tournament championship, defeating No. 10 Stanford. Not only did they experience success on the field, but the Lady Flames also made impressive marks in the classroom during the fall semester.

The Lady Flames received the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team award for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Liberty was one of 66 Division I field hockey programs to earn this distinction.

Additionally, 17 Lady Flames were named to the Division I National Academic Squad (see full list below). Liberty was one of only five teams in the country to have 17 or more players named to the squad. Four players, Serena Barr, Olivia Carroll, Helen Doolittle and Alex Hibbs, were honored as Division I Scholars of Distinction for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher. Liberty was only one of three programs to have four or more players honored as scholars of distinction, joining Drexel and Maine.
