On an unusually warm March day on the Liberty University campus, the Liberty Flames men's tennis team was defeated by the James Madison Dukes, losing 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the Esbenshade-Hershey Tennis Courts.

The weather was a factor, as the afternoon's temperature rose into the mid-80s. Singles competition featured a win at No. 3 by Sebastian Pena, as the Flames' junior prevailed in straight sets. The win was Pena's fourth of the season, tying him for second place on the team. Despite the junior's victory, the Dukes were able to prevail in each of the remaining singles matches.

In doubles play, James Madison won all three matches contested.

Liberty's record after the match now stands at 3-11. The Flames return to action on Friday as they host Big South opponent Coastal Carolina. Match time at the Esbenshade-Hershey Tennis Courts is scheduled for 1 p.m.
