Recently, LFSN Game On reporter Matt Warner had a chance to catch up with Liberty's head men's golf coach Jeff Thomas where the two discussed the beginning of the spring season.

The Flames opened the spring portion of their 2013-14 season with a victory at the Sea Best Invitational, contested at the famed TPC Sawgrass – THE PLAYERS Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

The 23rd NCAA Division I tournament victory in program history helped raise the Flames' national ranking to No. 24 in the country by Golfstat, tying the program's highest ranking in that poll.

Following two additional tournaments in Florida, Liberty is currently ranked No. 36 by Golfstat and by Golfweek.

Warner and Thomas also talked about the construction progress of Liberty's new golf club house, which will be completed later this spring. The facility, which is located atop Liberty Mountain, will give the program locker rooms, team meeting rooms, coach's offices and four heated hitting bays.

The Flames return to the golf course next week when they travel to Aiken, S.C., to participate in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto. The 54-hole event is hosted by USC Aiken at the Palmetto Golf Club on March 10-11.
