Lady Flames Set for Tough Road Test at No. 19/12 Navy
The Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse team (0-2) looks for its first win of the season on Tuesday when it travels to face No. 19/12 Navy (2-0). The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Series History Versus Navy
Liberty is 0-1 all-time against the Midshipmen. Last season, the Lady Flames fell 15-7 in their home opener at Liberty Lacrosse Field. A win against Navy would also give Liberty its first win against a member of the Patriot League.
Last Time Out
Liberty suffered its second straight setback to start the season this past Saturday at Vanderbilt. The Lady Flames played the Commodores tough throughout the first half, trailing by just three at the break. Vanderbilt pulled away with a 5-0 run to open the second half and went on to win by a final score of 20-8.
Sam Struss tallied her third career hat trick in the match, while Kallie Britton added a pair of scores and an assist for the Lady Flames. Making her first career start, freshman Michaela Rich delivered the first goal of her young career. Morgan Becker had a team-best six draw controls, while Britton and Nina Dunay led the way with three ground balls apiece. Goalkeeper Kristen Masullo finished the game with 13 saves.
Previewing the Lady Flames
Liberty is in the midst of its longest road stretch to start a season in program history. Tuesday's contest will wrap up a three-match road trip. The Lady Flames have started 0-3 just once in its four seasons of competition. Navy will be the second nationally ranked team that Liberty has faced in its history. In its first meeting with a ranked opponent, the Lady Flames fell to No. 3 North Carolina, 19-3, on Feb. 12, 2012.
Struss leads the Liberty offense in scoring so far this year with five points on five goals. Britton is right behind Struss with four points on three goals and an assist. A total of eight Lady Flames have recorded at least one point through the first two matches of the season.
Britton is the team leader in ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (2), while Becker has a team-leading 10 draw controls. Masullo has recorded 19 saves in between the pipes for Liberty. The senior is surrendering an average of 18 goals per game and has a .345 save percentage.
Previewing the Midshipmen
Navy (2-0) is coming off a 21-2 defeat of Big South opponent Campbell. The Mids opened the year with a victory against another Big South team, Longwood, and will play a total of four Big South foes to open their 2014 schedule.
Loren Generi and Aimee Gennaro both have double-digit point totals through the first two contests of the season. Generi has 17 points on nine goals and eight assists, while Gennaro has 10 tallies on five goals and five assists. Generi is also the team leader in ground balls (6), draw controls (14) and caused turnovers (4). Annie Foky has started both games in goal for the Midshipmen, surrendering 10 goals and notching two saves for a save percentage of .167.
The Lady Flames open the home portion of their 2014 schedule on Friday when the Elon Phoenix visit Liberty Mountain. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. at Liberty Lacrosse Field.
