Jacy Christiansen sped to a 5K personal-best time of 17:00.08 on Friday in Seattle.

Liberty junior Jacy Christiansen qualified for the ECAC meet in her third different event this season, racing to a personal-best 5K time of 17:00.08 on Friday at the Husky Classic at Dempsey Indoor.

Christiansen, who previously notched ECAC qualifiers in the mile and 3K, finished 21th out of 58 runners in the unseeded sections of the women's 5K. Her effort on the unique 307-meter indoor track ranks the New Hampshire native second on Liberty's all-time indoor list.

Christiansen shattered both her previous indoor 5K best of 17:46.29 and her overall 5K best time of 17:26.20 in the process. Only three Lady Flames (Ashley Osborne, Jennifer Klugh and Carol Jefferson) have ever run a faster 5K, either indoors or outdoors.

Meanwhile, senior Josh MacDonald broke 14:30 in the men's 5K for the second straight week, placing 34th of 84 in the unseeded sections with his time of 14:29.60, late Friday evening. He is the Big South Conference leader in the event.

Caleb Edmonds will be the lone Liberty athlete to compete at the Husky Classic on Saturday. He will compete in one of two invitational sections of the men's 3K at approximately 8 p.m. Eastern.
