Jake Kimble

After becoming the starter at third base during his freshman season in 2013, infielder Jake Kimble returns for the defending Big South Champion Flames, looking to improve upon his initial season of college baseball.

The infielder saw action in 44 contests in 2013, starting 34 games at third base. Providing steady defense, the Concord, N.C. native produced some clutch hits during Liberty's run to last year's Big South title, earning all-tournament team honors.

Kimble drove in three runs with two hits, a double, walked and scored a run in 9-8 victory over Coastal Carolina in Game 12 of the Big South Baseball Championship on May 24. Later, he went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in 8-3 win over Clemson at the NCAA Columbia Regional on May 31.

LSFN's Nick Pierce talked with the sophomore yesterday about the upcoming season.
