After collecting a season-opening win against Morehead State on Jan. 18, the Liberty men's tennis team returns to the court on Friday evening for its 2014 home opener against Bluefield State. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Sports Racket.

Live stats for the contest will be available by clicking the live stats link located on the men's tennis schedule/results page located on LibertyFlames.com.

The Flames are looking to start 2-0 for the second consecutive season and the third time in program history. Liberty is 5-0 all-time against Bluefield State, including a 7-0 triumph in the 2013 season opener.

The Flames enter Friday's match with a 14-13 record all-time in home openers, including a 10-4 mark since the 2000 season.

In matches played at the Sports Racket, Liberty is 9-5 dating back to 2006. Last season, the Flames posted a perfect 4-0 record at the Sports Racket.

In Liberty's 6-1 victory over Morehead State, the Flames captured the doubles tally and posted singles wins in positions one through five. No. 26 Shea Thomas and Jorge Azuero and Carson Greve and Egon Samaai each earned doubles wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, respectively. In singles play, Thomas, Azuero, Samaai, Alejandro Llamas and Stan Vaughan each posted victories against the Eagles.

With a doubles win on Friday, Thomas would become just the second Flame ever to record 75 career victories. The senior is quickly approaching the program leader and current Lady Flames' tennis assistant coach Giancarlo Lemmi's career-best mark of 79 doubles wins.

Friday's contest will serve as the 2014 season opener for Bluefield State. The Blues enter the season ranked No. 1 in Division II in the ITA's Atlantic Region. Last season, Bluefield State went 21-3 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships.

The Blues have a pair of nationally ranked singles players and one nationally ranked doubles pair. Jacob Carey (21st) and Aziz Yudishev (43rd) are ranked in singles play, while Yudishev and Vishwesh Sinha are ranked 19th in doubles.

Following Friday's tilt, the Flames return to the road for a Feb. 6 matchup with William & Mary.
